About Advanced Eating disorder Center
Advanced Center for Eating Disorders is a unique Intensive Outpatient Program for eating disorders. Our program provides treatment for males and females, adolescents and adults suffering from eating disorders, as well as dual diagnosed clients suffering from an eating disorder along with depression, anxiety, and/or substance abuse, which often accompany an eating disorder. The treatment team consists of the following professionals: Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Interns and a Certified Nutritionist. Our team assures that treatment is comprehensive and thorough. Individualized treatment plans, combined with small group therapy, provide a supportive environment where people can practice new behaviors and learn new ways to relate to themselves and others. Our environment is a warm, caring, non-hospital, nurturing setting. All of our staff are professionals with extensive experience in treating eating disorders. Gloria Woodruff, the Program Director, has been working with eating disorders since 1989.
This program is designed for the individual who does not meet criteria for inpatient hospitalization, but needs a more intensive structure than can be offered by outpatient services. It may also be used as a step-down from a Partial Hospitalization program, providing structure and accountability while allowing the individual to apply tools and knowledge to their home environment. The program goals are to encourage weight restoration and normalization of disordered eating, along with psychological restoration. Individuals attend a three-four hour session, three to five times per week. Group therapy and education groups covering a variety of topics to include: eating disorders, healthy relationships, co-dependency, nutrition, chemical dependency, etc. are offered. In addition, multi family group therapy is available once a week. Individual counseling at the request of the participant will also be available.
